Man appears in court charged with murder bid after biker knocked down on Scots street

A man has appeared in court charged in connection with an alleged late-night murder bid on an Edinburgh street.

Michael Roberts was remanded in custody after making no plea at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

He faces one charge of attempted murder, a charge of driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

Police were called to the scene on Pilton Avenue at around 10pm on January 23 following reports of a crash between a BMW and an off-road motorbike.

The biker, 24, was rushed to hospital with a serious leg injury.

Roberts, 27, whose general address was given as Edinburgh, also faces a charge of possessing a bladed weapon in a public place.

In two separate cases against Roberts, he is also facing charges of housebreaking and numerous road traffic offences.

Roberts will appear in court again in the next eight days.
