Man appears in court charged in connection with seizure of cocaine and cannabis in Drogheda, Co Louth

A 29-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with the seizure of cocaine and cannabis in Drogheda, Co Louth earlier this week.

Karl Dennis, with an address in Elmwood Close, Termonabbey, Drogheda, Co Louth, is charged with possession of cocaine, and possession of it for the purpose of selling or otherwise supplying it to another.

Those offences are alleged to have taken place on Monday this week - the 11th November -  at the Donore Business Park, Drogheda.

He is also charged with possession of cannabis and possession of it for the purpose of selling or otherwise supplying it to another. 

Those offences are alleged to have taken place at the address in Elmwood Close, Termonabbey, Drogheda.

Detective Garda Karl Mannion, Drogheda, gave evidence of arresting, charging and cautioning Karl Dennis.

He said that when the charges were put to him, Dennis remained silent.

The Garda told that gardai would be objecting to bail.  

Solicitor Eleanor Kelly said that there was no bail application today but one would be made at the next date.  

She applied for legal aid for the accused saying he was receiving social welfare of €201 a week.

Judge Eirinn McKiernan remanded him in custody to appear again at Cloverhill District Court next Tuesdy.
