Man apologises in court for alleged road-rage stabbing in Adelaide's north

A man charged with attempted murder over a drive-by stabbing in Adelaide's north has apologised during a brief court appearance as his alleged victim remains hospitalised in a critical condition.

Benjamin Joshua George, 25, faced the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday while 34-year-old Troy James McLean was in hospital.

Police allege the two men were driving in separate cars along Waterloo Corner Road when an altercation happened at the Salisbury Highway intersection about 10:40am on Saturday.

It is alleged Mr George stabbed Mr McLean before driving off.

Mr George is yet to enter pleas to one count of attempted murder and one count of causing serious harm to another.

Police said Mr McLean tried to drive himself to the Lyell McEwin Hospital but crashed into a parked car on the way.

Mr George was arrested in Salisbury on Saturday night and police seized his white Mitsubishi Lancer.

During his court hearing Mr George spoke from the dock.

"Can I just say I'm so sorry to everyone," he said.

He made no application for bail and was remanded in custody to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court during January.
