Man and woman wounded in Des Plaines shooting

A man and woman were wounded Tuesday in a shooting in Des Plaines in the Northwest Suburbs.

About 9:20 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 10000 block of Linda Lane, the Cook County sheriff’s office said.

When they arrived, they found a 22-year-old woman and 23-year-old man wounded but alert, the sheriff’s office said. They were taken to Lutheran General Hospital for treatment.

Sheriff’s police later received information indicating the shooter might be armed and barricaded inside one of the apartment units, the sheriff’s office said. However, the shooter was nowhere to be found once the Hostage Barricade and Terrorist Team eventually gained entry.
