Man and woman who died after A52 crash are named

An assistant coroner has confirmed the names of a man and woman who died in a car crash on the A52 last month.

Brett Rogers and Tanya Jackson had been travelling towards Derby on the A52 just after the road's junction with the M1 when the car left the road and collided with a tree, reports Derbyshire Live.

Mr Rogers, 37, the driver of the white Vauxhall Insignia, and Miss Jackson, 29, a passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.

The incident happened on the westbound carriageway, just after junction 25 of the M1, at around 4.55pm on Saturday, August 22.

The road was closed for around six hours after the incident.

An inquest into the deaths of Mr Rogers and Miss Jackson was opened and adjourned today, Tuesday, September 1, at Derby Coroner's Court.

Due to the ongoing police investigation of the crash, assistant coroner Tanyka Rawden spoke only to confirm the names and initial details of the deceased and to adjourn the inquest to a later date.

The court heard how Mr Rogers, of Alvaston, was a married man, who worked as a recovery truck driver.

His provisional cause of death was recorded as head injury.

The court also heard how Miss Jackson, of Stapleford, was born in Derbyshire, was single, and worked as a counter assistant at a Chinese restaurant.

Her provisional cause of death was also recorded as head injury.

No further information about the circumstances of the collision was given in court at this stage.

Assistant coroner Mrs Rawden adjourned the inquest until October 22, 2020.

She said: "I am not in a position to proceed with either of these inquests today as I am waiting for further information and the outcome of the police investigation."

Police are urging any witnesses to come forward with information about the crash.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said: "Enquiries are ongoing in relation to the incident."

Anyone with any information should call Derbyshire police on 101 quoting reference number 20*438764 in any correspondence.

Those with information can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
