Man and woman trapped in car following collision near Daisy Nook Country Park

A man and a woman were trapped in a car following a collision near to Daisy Nook Country Park.

Emergency crews were called to a collision involving two vehicles on Stannybrook Road, in Failsworth, at 11.35am on Monday morning.

Firefighters used specialist equipment to release a man and woman trapped inside one car.

The ambulance service said a man, aged in his late 40s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

An ambulance and a rapid response vehicle remains at the scene.

A section of Stannybrook Road has been shut.

The North West Ambulance Service said in a statement: "We were called at 11.26am. We have attended with two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle.

"It is still ongoing. We have got a man in his late 40s with serious injuries.

"He has been taken to hospital.

"We are still on the scene with an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle."

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 11.35am this morning to Stannybrook Road in Failsworth, near to the garden centre.

"It is a road traffic collision involving two vehicles.

"Crews are currently in attendance.

"Two people are trapped, but conscious and breathing - a man and a woman."
