Two men including 86-year-old seriously injured after being hit by car in Morley

Two people have been seriously injured after they were hit by a car in Morley.

A pedestrian and a cyclist were hit by a navy blue Corsa at around 3.05pm on Monday. An 86-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious head and leg injuries.

The vehicle hit the pedestrian as he stood on the pavement, close to a nearby pharmacy, waiting to cross the road. A man who was riding his bike was also taken to hospital with head injuries.

An air ambulance and ambulance were at the scene. Two police cars, one unmarked car, and two more police cars further down the road at the roundabout stopping traffic, were spotted at the scene around 4pm.

Cars were being diverted to alternative routes as a cordon was put in place between Queensway and B6123 Fountain Street.

Confirming the details of the incident, a West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Corporation Street involving a vehicle, a pedestrian and a cyclist, in Morley shortly after 3:05pm today.

"The male pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious head and leg injuries. The male cyclist was also taken to hospital with head injuries. Enquiries are on-going to establish the circumstances of what happened."

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
