Man and woman seriously injured after assault inside Northumberland village home

Two people were found seriously injured inside a home in a small Northumberland village.

Emergency services were called out to a home in Foxcover, Linton Colliery, north of Ashington, just before 9pm on Sunday.

There they found a man and woman who had serious injuries and they were taken to hospital.

They are described as being in a stable condition in hospital, and police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the assault.

Officers remain in the area and a police cordon is still in place on the street.

A forensic investigation team arrived on Monday and investigators in full body suits were seen approaching the home with cameras.

A police van has also been parked across the road, stopping cars from going past.

Any witnesses or anyone who has information is asked to get in touch with the police.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At about 8.55pm on Sunday police received a report of a disturbance inside an address in the village of Linton.

"Emergency services attended the property on Foxcover and found a male and a female with serious injuries consistent with an assault.

"They have been taken to hospital and remain in a stable condition at this time.

"Inquiries into the circumstances around the incident are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to report online at the Northumbria Police website, or call 101, quoting log 908 15/11/20."
