Man and woman rushed to hospital with serious injuries after assault in Co Louth

Two people have been hospitalised after they were assaulted in Co Louth this morning.

Gardai are investigating the "incident of assault" that happened on Castletown Road in Dundalk at around 9am this morning.

A man and a woman were rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda following the incident.

They are being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Gardai said no arrests have been made as yet and that their investigations are continuing.

A spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of assault that occurred on Castletown Road, Dundalk, Co. Louth this morning, Wednesday 28th July 2021 at approximately 9am.

"Two persons, a male and female, have been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda with what are believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

"No arrests have been made at this time and investigations are ongoing."
