Man and woman rushed to hospital as police seal off road after quad bike crash

A man and woman were taken to hospital after a quad bike crash in Littleborough.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the smash on Canal Street, near the train station, at around 8.15pm last night (Sunday). A police cordon was put in place.

This morning the North West Ambulance Service confirmed that a man and woman were taken to hospital from the scene. The man suffered 'major trauma-related injuries', though they are not believed to be life-threatening.

The woman suffered minor injuries, NWAS added. Greater Manchester Police said enquiries are ongoing into the crash.

Pictures taken at the scene last night showed a red quad bike on the pavement inside the cordon. The road was closed off from Inghams Lane to Halifax Road for several hours while investigation work was carried out.

A GMP spokesperson said: "We were called to a report of a road traffic collision at around 8.15pm on Sunday, July 17, involving a quad bike on Canal Street in Littleborough. Officers attended and dealt with the incident with enquiries ongoing to assess the full extent of how the crash happened."

A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: "A man and a woman were taken to hospital. The man suffered major trauma-related injuries. The woman suffered minor injuries."
