Man and woman killed in car crash in Templeogue, south Dublin

Two people have died following an early morning road crash in south Dublin.

A man and woman were killed when the car they were travelling in hit a lamppost on Butterfield Avenue, Templeogue at 1.30am.

The bodies were removed to Tallaght University Hospital, Dublin Live reports.

Post-mortem examinations will be carried out later.

The incident has been referred to the Garda Ombudsman (GSOC) for examination.

The Garda Forensic Collision Investigation Unit has examined the scene of the crash and the road has reopened.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was travelling in the area at the time of the collision and who may have dash cam footage to contact gardai in Tallaght.
