Man and woman in their 20s arrested in Forde over Nissan X-Trail theft

A 26-year-old man from Franklin and a 23-year-old woman from Batemans Bay have been arrested in Forde in relation to the alleged theft of a vehicle.

The pair were observed in a white Nissan X-Trail with Queensland registration plates about 11.30am on Wednesday.

Police followed the vehicle through the northern suburbs after a check revealed the plates did not belong to the vehicle.

According to police, the vehicle and the plates had been reported stolen earlier this week.

"Police followed the vehicle through multiple northside suburbs onto Mulligans Flat Road where it entered NSW," police said.

"A short time later the vehicle re-entered the ACT, and police were able to successfully deploy tyre-deflation devices."

The vehicle was stopped in Blizzard Circuit in Forde, where the driver and passenger were arrested.

The man will face charges of driving a stolen motor vehicle, aggravated dangerous driving, driving while suspended, using incorrect number plates, drug driving and failing to stop for police.

The woman will face charges of riding in a stolen motor vehicle.

Both are due to appear before ACT Magistrates court on Thursday.
