A man and woman are in a serious but stable condition after their car left the road in the early hours of yesterday. Authorities say the Ford Fiesta crashed on the B7076 between Ecclefechan and Kirkpatrick Fleming at around 5.35am on Monday July 4.

Police and ambulance attended and the 47-year-old driver and his 42-year-old female passenger were taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where they are being treated for their injuries. Authorities say they are both in a serious but stable condition.

Officers are urging anyone who may be able to assist Police Scotland with their enquires to get in touch.

Sergeant Callum Ruddick of the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Lockerbie said: “Our investigation into the cause of this crash is continuing and I would appeal to anyone with information that may assist our enquiries to contact us.

“Anyone who was driving on the B7076 between Ecclefechan and Kirkpatrick Fleming on Monday morning, who may have seen the Ford Fiesta driving on the road before the crash occurred is asked to contact 101 quoting reference number 0444 of Monday, 4 July.”
