Cumbria Police was contacted after the van was found, having crashed off the road, at 7.40am.

The scene was close to the B6260, just north of Tebay.

Cumbria Police described the incident as a "one vehicle road traffic collision" and said the circumstances of the crash were being investigated.

The force is appealing for anyone who witnessed a white Citroen Berlingo van in the area, or who has information about the incident, to get in touch.
