Man and woman drown at Frazer Beach on NSW Central Coast north of Sydney

A man and woman, both believed to be in their 40s, have drowned on a beach on the NSW Central Coast this afternoon.

NSW Police said emergency services were called to Frazer Beach, near Catherine Hill Bay and about 100 kilometres north of Sydney, at 4:20pm after two people were pulled from the water unconscious.

Bystanders commenced CPR and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended but they could not be revived.

They are yet to be formally identified.

Police are making inquiries and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

According to Royal Life Saving Australia, the deaths would bring the total number of drownings around the country this summer to 55, compared to 86 at the same time last year.
