Man and woman die after car crashes into tree off A52

A man and a woman have died in a crash on the A52.

The incident happened on the westbound carriageway, just after junction 25 of the M1, at around 4.55pm on Saturday, August 22.

Both the driver, a 37-year-old man from Derby and the passenger, a 29-year-old woman from Stapleford, died at the scene.

Derbyshire Constabulary were called to the incident where a white Vauxhall Insignia had left the road and crashed into a tree.

The road was closed for more than six hours.

A spokesperson for the force added: "The families of both of the deceased are aware and our thoughts are with them at this time.

"Officers from Derbyshire police’s collision investigation unit want to hear from anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the incident, or the moments before it.

"Of particular interest are any drivers who have dashcam footage that may have captured the car in the moments before the incident.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Derbyshire Police, including reference 20*438764."
