A man and a woman were assaulted during an altercation near Strangeways prison.
Police were called to an altercation on Bury New Road shortly after 4.30pm on Thursday.
Neither of the victims were seriously hurt but the woman went to hospital as a precaution.
Police are still looking for the offender.
A GMP spokesperson said: "At around 4.39pm this afternoon (Thursday 29 April 2021) police were called with a report of an assault on Bury New Road, Cheetham Hill.
"Officers attended and following enquiries it was discovered that an altercation had taken place shortly before a man and a woman were both assaulted.
"No serious injuries were reported but the woman attended hospital as a precaution.
"An investigation is on-going to locate the offender."
