Man and woman arrested on suspicion of murder after death of boy, 4, in Limerick

Gardaí investigating the death of a four-year-old boy in Co Limerick have arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of murder over

It follows an investigation into an incident which happened in the Rathbane area of Limerick on Saturday, March 13.

The youngster was rushed to hospital in Limerick and Cork after sustaining a suspected head injury, reports the Irish Mirror.

He was brought to Temple Street Children's Hospital in Dublin where he later died.

Gardaí today (Thursday) confirmed that a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident.

They are both currently being held at garda stations in Limerick city.

A garda statement said: "Gardaí investigating the death of a 4-year-old boy in Limerick have today arrested a male, in his 30s, and a female, in her 20s, on suspicion of murder.

"Both persons are currently detained under Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act 1984, at Garda Stations in Limerick city."
