Man and woman arrested after '£80,000 clothes raid' at Scots shop

A man and woman have been arrested and charged after £80,000 worth of designer gear was allegedly stolen from a Scots clothes shop.

Photos showed empty racks and hangers strewn across the floor after the raid at the high end Overhype store on Aberdeen's Green on Monday.

Rare items from top names like Gucci, Stone Island and Louis Vuitton were reportedly swiped leaving owners devastated.

Gutted co-owner Liam Duncan, 22, said at the time: “It’s like we’re in a movie. I just can’t believe it’s actually happening - all the hard work and time we’ve put into it.”

“The insurance isn't going to cover it because we hadn’t got the security system set up yet.”

Now police have confirmed the arrests of a man and a woman.

A police spokeswoman said: "A 28-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman have been arrested and charged following a break-in at a clothing store in The Green, Aberdeen.

"The incident happened sometime between 8pm on Monday, 30 November and 10am on Tuesday, 1 December, 2020.

"Both are due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday 7 December 2020.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
