Man and woman appear in court charged with murder of mum in Shetland

A man and woman have appeared in court charged with murdering a mum in Shetland earlier this week.

Ross MacDougall, 31, and Dawn Smith, 27, are both accused of killing Tracy Walker in Lerwick in the early hours of Tuesday.

MacDougall is also charged with assaulting the 40-year-old former carer with intent to rob her.

Neither accused, who are both from Lerwick, made any plea and both were remanded in custody for further examination after appearing in private at Lerwick Sheriff Court .

They will appear in court again at a later date.

Tracy was found dead in Ladies Drive, north Lerwick, at 2.05am sparking a major police investigation with officers flown in from the mainland to carry out an investigation.

Her brother Dell Smith, 43, described Tracy as “the best human being you could meet – good and warm-hearted.”
