A man and toddler have been rushed to hospital after they were both hit by a train.
An emergency response was called to Garrowhill station shortly before 7.30pm on Sunday after they received a report of two casualties on the tracks.
The man and two-year-old child were found on the tracks and rushed to hospital.
While the toddler's injuries are not currently being treated as life-threatening, the man is said to be battling serious injuries.
An investigation has now been launched into the incident and transport cops are urging any witnesses to the incident to get in touch.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Garrowhill station shortly before 7.30pm on July 2 following reports of two casualties on the tracks.
"Officers attended and two people – an adult man and a two-year-old child – were taken to hospital where they both remain.
"Both people sustained injuries from being hit by a train. The child’s injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening, and the man remains in a serious condition.
"Detectives are investigating the full circumstances of the incident and believe there were a number of people on the platform at the time who may have witnessed what happened.
"Anyone who witnessed what happened and hasn’t already spoken to police is urged to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 with reference 564 of July 2."
