Man and teen charged after 'late-night weapon rammy' in Elgin

A man and a teenager have been charged in connection with an alleged late-night gang rammy in Moray.

We told how police raced to Trinity Place in Elgin at around 11.40pm on Friday, December 4.

The alarm was raised after reports of 'an altercation between two groups' which was thought to have 'involved a weapon '.

It is understood that both groups had been to the local McDonald's restaurant before the alleged scrap.

One of the groups involved were believed to be travelling in a grey Audi A3 car.

While the other group were using a silver Mercedes, it's reported.

Police found a 20-year-old man had suffered serious injuries to his leg and body.

It's believed that a weapon caused his injuries.

The man was rushed to Dr Gray's hospital in the town and treated for his injuries. He was later released.

A man and woman, aged 20 and 18 respectively, have been charged in connection with the incident.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal. The pair are expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court.

A spokesperson from North East Police Division said: "A 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman have been charged in connection with a serious assault in Trinity Place, Elgin on Friday, December 4.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

"Expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court at a later date."
