Man allegedly tries to sneak 50kg of cannabis onto commercial flight

A Queensland man has been charged with drug trafficking after police allegedly found 50 kilograms of cannabis in his luggage at Adelaide Airport.

The 32-year-old man from Ormeau Hills, between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, was about to board a commercial flight for Brisbane.

Police say detectives from South Australia Police's drug and organised crime taskforce found the marijuana with the assistance of Australian Federal Police and Australian Border Force after attending the airport about 1:45pm on Thursday.

It was inside large plastic bags within two black hard-shell suitcases.

SA Police charged him with trafficking a large commercial quantity of cannabis.

He was refused police bail to appear before the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday.
