A man allegedly threatened to kill his former partner, assaulted her and punched a dog before the woman managed to escape and alert a neighbor.
Police were called to the Gordon home about 9.45pm on Wednesday, July 1, after reports of a disturbance between the 37-year-old man and his former partner.
Police allege the man threatened to kill the woman, damaged her property, assaulted her and punched a dog.
The woman managed to escape the home and seek refuge with a neighbour, who contacted police.
Officers attended a short time later and began an investigation.
Police said the man was already subject to bail conditions at the time of the alleged assault. He was later taken into custody over an unrelated matter, and was granted bail by the ACT Magistrates Court the following day.
After further inquiries into the alleged assault, police attended the man's Gordon address on Friday night, where he was taken into custody.
He is due to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday, charged with multiple family violence offences, including reckless threat to kill, destroy property, hitting an animal and common assault.
ACT Policing urged anyone experiencing family violence to contact police on 131 444, or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency, when it is safe to do so.
