Man allegedly terrorising locals and targeting homes with 'bogus scam' in Dublin

Gardai are currently on the lookout for a man who is allegedly terrorising Dublin locals by selling counterfeit goods.

The man is reportedly trying to sell off perfume and aftershave that is "not legitimate" to residents of Castleview near Swords.

Several locals have added that they were caught out by the bogus scam artist and have reported him to Gardai.

A local Facebook page said: "Gardai have been made aware and are sending a car down."

They added: "If anyone spots him can u comment please so we can advise the Gardai of location."

As well as Castleview, the man was said to have visited houses in nearby Ashton Broc and Ashton Avenue.

Some locals feared that the person allegedly conducting the scam may be "marking houses".

One resident said: "This is often a guise. They could potentially be scoping out which houses are empty. They usually use chalk to mark the house as a potential break-in opportunity."

Dublin Live has contacted Gardai for further details on the alleged scam.
