A man is in the Royal Adelaide Hospital after allegedly being stabbed in the back at a function in Adelaide's northern suburbs overnight.

Police were called to a private function at a pole dancing studio on Beafield Road at Para Hills West early this morning, where it is alleged a 23-year-old Semaphore man was having a disagreement with a woman at the party.

Another man intervened and was allegedly stabbed in the back.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital with a minor stab wound.

Police say the accused man left before patrols arrived, but was found and arrested soon after at a nearby service station.

He has been charged with aggravated assault causing harm and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court in September.

Police are also investigating the party, which had about 30 people in attendance, over a potential breach of Emergency Management Act COVID-19 directions.

South Australian gyms have been allowed one person per 4 square metres since Thursday.

Another man was allegedly stabbed in Adelaide's northern suburbs on Friday night.
