A man has been charged with multiple offences after allegedly indecently assaulting another passenger on a peak-hour train in Perth on Thursday morning while brandishing a large knife.
It is alleged the 31-year-old boarded a train on the Armadale line bound for Perth about 7:00am when he pulled out a 30-centimetre knife and began waving it around and shouting at passengers.
Police say he put the knife in his waistband before indecently assaulting a woman in her 50s who was sitting in a corner seat, unable to move away.
The White Gum Valley man then allegedly threatened to kill other passengers while waving the knife around, before he returned to the woman and indecently assaulted her again.
It is further alleged he then got off the train at Victoria Park station and threatened a security guard and members of the public before boarding a second train.
Police say he continued brandishing the knife and was abusive to passengers, before disembarking again at McIver station.
Police say he was waiting on the platform before boarding a third train bound for Perth station where was then arrested by waiting police and Public Transport Authority (PTA) officers.
The charges include three counts of being armed in public to cause fear, two counts of aggravated indecent assault and one count of threatening to kill.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed the incident or recorded phone vision of it is urged to contact police.
