Man allegedly found with homemade explosive devices, drugs and $10K cash pleads not guilty, granted bail

The explosive devices seized.

A MAN allegedly found with homemade explosive devices at a home at Weston on Wednesday has pleaded not guilty to all charges and been granted strict conditional bail.

Specialist police were called in to safely destroy the "explosive materials" allegedly found at the home in Fifth Street and police say they also seized an amount of methamphetamine and cannabis and more than $10,000 in cash.

Brent William Henderson, 36, was arrested and refused bail by police but appeared in Newcastle Local Court on Thursday where he pleaded not guilty to all eight charges, including possess, supply or make explosive for unlawful purpose.

He was granted bail on a number of strict conditions, including daily reporting to police and a curfew.

Police say officers attached to the Hunter Valley police district proactive crime team had conducted a Firearms Prohibition Order search at the home about 10.30am before allegedly uncovering the explosives, drugs and cash.

Mr Henderson will next appear in Cessnock Local Court on Wednesday.
