Man allegedly 'drove at' petrol station employee before leaving without paying

A motorist "drove at" a petrol station employee after trying to leave without paying for fuel, police have said.

Officers are appealing for witnesses after the employee was reportedly knocked onto the bonnet of the vehicle and injured during the incident in Brynmawr on Monday.

At around 11am a black Ford Focus was reported trying to leave the petrol station in Blaina Road without paying for fuel.

A member of staff then approached the car and spoke to a male driver and female passenger before the driver allegedly "drove at" the employee, knocking him onto the bonnet of the vehicle.

The car drove for a "short distance" before the staff member fell to the floor. The man suffered bruising to his hand and was taken to hospital.

The car left the scene and drove along Chapel Road in the direction of Nantyglo.

Officers are calling for witnesses to the incident, or those who may know who the driver is, to get in touch. They have also released an image of a man they would like to speak to.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting ref 1900352065 or to send a direct message to Gwent Police on Facebook or Twitter.
