Man allegedly defrauds telco employer out of $3 million

A man is arrested after allegedly defrauding his telco employer out of $3 million. (HANDOUT/NSW POLICE)

A man will face court on fraud charges after allegedly stealing $3 million from his telco employer.

Police will allege the 34-year-old stole more than 1500 high-end mobile phones and accessories and sold them for cash on various marketplace websites.

Officers arrested the man at his home in Sydney's Guildford last month, when they seized electronics, cryptocurrency and a vehicle.

He was charged with fraud, dealing with the proceeds of crime and unauthorised modification of data.

The man was granted bail and is due to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday.

Strike Force Jarley was established in October by NSW Police's Cybercrime Squad to investigate reports of fraud within the company, where the man held a position of responsibility.
