A man has been caught driving a Range Rover at more than 200kmh on the M1.
Tuggerah Lakes highway patrol police were conducting speed checks on the motorway at Mardi, on the Central Coast, just before midnight on Wednesday, August 12.
Officers at this time clocked a black Range Rover Sport tearing north along the M1 at 206kmh in a signposted 110kmh zone.
Police stopped the driver - who also had two passengers in the car with him - and subjected him to roadside testing.
He allegedly returned positive indications for illicit drugs and alcohol. Further testing at Wyong Police Station allegedly revealed a blood alcohol reading of 0.066 and a positive indication for cocaine.
Police immediately suspended the man's licence and he was issued a notice to attend court in October on charges of driving at a dangerous speed, exceeding the speed limit by more than 45kmh, and drink driving.
A drug driving offence could still be laid pending results from further laboratory testing.
Police said no sanctions were able to be applied to the Range Rover because the driver was not the registered owner.
