Man airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after incident at Aberdeenshire slaughterhouse

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after an incident at an abattoir in an Aberdeenshire town.

Officers from Police Scotland and paramedics raced to the Woodhead Bro's slaughterhouse in Turriff at around 2.30pm earlier today.

Following the incident a 55-year-old male was airlifted by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

It's believed his injuries are not life threatening.

Inspector Steven McDonald, of Banff Police Station, said: "We received a report of a 55-year-old man having suffered a serious injury at an abattoir in Turriff around 2.30pm on Tuesday, 31 March, 2020.

"The man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by helimed.

"His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

"The Health and Safety Executive will be made aware."
