Man airlifted to hospital in Dublin after being stabbed in car park in Longford

A man has been airlifted to St James's Hospital in Dublin after being stabbed in broad daylight in a car park in Longford.

The man, who is said to be in his early 20s, was viciously attacked at Killashee Street in Longford at around 2pm today.

It's believed that the injured man received a number of stab wounds to his face, arm and head, Dublin Live reports.

He is in a serious condition in hospital but his injuries are not life-threatening.

In a statement to Dublin Live, Gardai said that they "are investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident at Killashee St. Longford today, April 1 at approximately 2pm.

"A male in his early 20s received stab injuries. He has been taken by Air Ambulance to St James's Hospital in Dublin.

"There has been no update on his condition and no arrests and the investigation is ongoing. Gardaí wish to appeal for witnesses to contact Longford Garda Station on 043 3350570."
