Man airlifted to hospital after being rescued from overturned tractor in Co Mayo

A man was airlifted to hospital after being rescued from an overturned tractor in Co Mayo.

The incident happened in the village of Breaffy just outside Castlebar on Saturday evening, May 16.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 4.30pm.

A man in his 30s, who was driving the tractor at the time of the incident, was injured in the accident.

He was taken to Mayo University Hospital by Air Ambulance. His injuries are described as non life threatening.

Gardai said an investigation is now underway.

A spokesman said: "At approximately 4:30pm on Saturday 16th May 2020, a man in his 30s was injured when a tractor he was operating overturned at Breaffy, Castlebar, County Mayo.

"Gardaí and Ambulance Services attended the scene.

"The man was taken to Mayo University Hospital by Air Ambulance.

"His injuries are described as non-life threatening. Enquiries are ongoing."
