Man airlifted to hospital after being found seriously injured on hard shoulder of M9

A man was airlifted to hospital after being found injured on the hard shoulder of a stretch of motorway near Stirling.

Police received reports of concern for a person on the M9 at around 12.40pm today.

The route was shut in both directions between junctions 9 and 10.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A man was found on the hard shoulder with serious injuries and has been taken by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in Glasgow, for treatment.”

The road remained shut to traffic heading west until 2pm.

Police enquiries are continuing.
