A man has been arrested at Dublin Port in connection with the deaths of 39 migrants that were found dead in a lorry in Essex.
The man aged, 23, is believed to be from Co Down, Northern Ireland and is due to appear to before the Criminal Courts of Justice later today.
The man was arrested by gardai after getting off a ferry from France at the port on Saturday afternoon.
The blue Scania truck that he was driving has since been impounded by gardai.
Four other people are being questioned in relation to the deaths - an Irish couple, a 25-year-old truck driver from Co Armagh and a 48-year-old man from Northern Ireland, who was arrested at Stansted Airport.
Confirming the arrest, a garda spokesman said: "Earlier today 26 October 2019 at Dublin Port An Garda Siochana arrested a male in his early 20s from Northern Ireland on foot of an outstanding court order for an offence in this jurisdiction.
"This male will appear before Criminal Courts of Justice, Court 2, at 4.30pm today Saturday 26th October 2019.
"Essex Police has an interest in this male as part of their investigation .
"An Garda Síochána will continue to assist Essex Police but does not comment on investigations carried out by other police forces.
