A man has pleaded guilty to murdering 22-year-old Cameron Lindley following a disturbance at a house in Carmarthenshire. Tyler Lindley had previously admitted the manslaughter of Mr Lindley but entered a guilty plea to murder when he appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Thursday. He will be sentenced next month but a judge has told the 20-year-old there is only one sentence open to the court and that is a life sentence.
Police launched a murder investigation after the death of Cameron Lindley at a property in Treforis, Betws, Ammanford, in September last year. Following Mr Lindley's death his family released a statement in which they said they were "devastated at the sudden loss of a dear grandson, son, brother and uncle".
Tyler Lindley, of Cimla, Neath, pleaded guilty to murder when he appeared in court via videolink from a psychiatric unit. His barrister, Ignatius Hughes KC, told the court that though there was a mental health background to the case those mental health issues did not provide a defence in law. Lindley will be sentenced on June 6.
Judge Paul Thomas KC told the defendant: "As you have been told there can only be one sentence and that is life imprisonment. What I have to decide on June 6 is how long you will have to serve before you can make an application to be released."
