Man admits killing Nottingham woman Sophia Jekecha in quiet Aspley cul-de-sac

A man has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of a woman and administering nicotine to endanger life.

Lyndon Nindi, 49, of Kinross Drive, Newcastle, entered his guilty plea to the manslaughter of Sophia Jekecha on February 16 last year.

He also admitted administering poison or a noxious substance to endanger life on February 16.

The charge, read out at Nottingham Crown Court, stated that he administered to Sophia Jekecha, namely nicotine, to endanger life or inflict grievous bodily harm on Sophia Jekecha.

Judge Gregory Dickinson QC, the Recorder of Nottingham, said: "Next week brings the first anniversary of this tragic death".

No further details were aired in court about the background to the charges at a further case management hearing on Friday, February 12.

Nindi will be sentenced in April on a date to be arranged.

The judge continued his conditional bail.

At the time, Nottinghamshire Live told how residents were left shocked by the sudden death of a woman at a house on a quiet cul-de-sac in Aspley.

Neighbours had described how there was a swarm of police cars on Sunday, February 16, after officers were called to the address in Aspley Lane next to King George's V Playing Fields.

Neighbours also told how a woman and her daughter had lived at the address for around 10 years but that she "kept herself to herself."

They said she was usually seen bringing back shopping and was "a lovely" woman who would always say 'hello.'

One neighbour said the family would attend the local church on Sunday.

A police community support officer was positioned outside the house on Monday, February 17, to ensure that no one entered the property while an investigation was underway.
