Man admits kidnapping mum found seriously injured in car with baby

A man is facing a lengthy prison sentence after admitting kidnap, grievous bodily harm and intentional strangulation of a woman in Skelmersdale.

Police were called to reports of a missing woman in the early hours of November 14, 2022. The woman was later found seriously injured in a car in Merseyside, reports LancsLive.

A baby was also in the car but was unharmed. The driver, Nathaniel Corkish, 31, of Lindale, Skelmersdale, was arrested at the scene.

He appeared before Preston Crown Court today (December 14) where he pleaded guilty to the three offences. The court heard he intentionally wounded the woman as well as strangling her to the extent her breathing was restricted.

Judge Richard Gioserano said a lengthy custodial sentence is inevitable but asked for a pre-sentence report to be prepared to assess whether or not Corkish is a dangerous offender who poses a risk to the public.

Corkish was remanded in custody and will return to court on March 31 2023.
