Man admits he and partner swap sides of bed every night and people are in meltdown

Every once in a while, an innocuous comment or question from a regular Joe will capture social media's collective attention.

Recently, we saw a huge debate ensure over the "correct" number of towels every adult should own .

Now, another man's admission is causing the internet to "blow up", and it's all to do with his sleeping arrangements.

These are, it seems, pretty unorthodox.

Steve O'Rourke revealed that he and his partner will sleep on a different side of the bed every night.

Troubling reason why clocks are being removed from classrooms and exam rooms

"We were just chatting in work and apparently it's weird that Amy and I don't sleep on the same side of the bed every night. Some nights I like to sleep by the window, some nights the door.

"It's not really that unusual, is it?" he wrote on Twitter .

Well, actually Steve, it looks like it is.

People were quick to point out how bizarre it is. Really quick.

"I am so scared. First Brexit , now this," one frightened woman said.

Another added: "You have a side of the bed, and that's your side of the bed, and they have theirs.

"And that's that. It's a bit like saying, 'I think I'll go sleep in the neighbours house tonight.'"

We can sort of see the logic behind that statement.

Professor Fiona Denney weighed in, writing: "My husband attempted to entice me down this route until I made it very clear that this was not a lifestyle choice I wanted to engage with."

Steve shed further light on his set-up: "Feel like I need to point out the following," he wrote.

"1. First one in chooses, 2. We've never disagreed over it, 3. We move pillows and books as we move, 4. We don't change every single night, 5. Neither of us are aliens."

While a small smattering of people said that they did something similar,  this did very little to dispel the disbelief and horror.

Mum's anger as she lends friend a baby sling - and spots it being flogged online

"Just happy you found each other and are thus not infecting others with your strange ways," one woman responded.

"Try it?" Asked someone else

"Try living a life of instability and constant, unpredictable change? There is enough disorder in the world without inviting it into the dwelling, thank you very much."
