Warning: This article contains graphic detail

THE partner of 21-year-old Phoenix Spencer-Horn has been found guilty of her murder in East Kilbride after texting her mother that she was "alive and well".

Ewan Methven, 27, pleaded guilty at the High Court in Glasgow on Tuesday to murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Around 12.10pm on Monday, November 18, 2024, the body of Phoenix, was found within a flat on Glen Lee.

Prosecutors told the court that Methven (above) choked Spencer-Horn, before severing her head and trying to remove her limbs and torso from her body.

Methven then tried to cover up his actions for two days, by sending texts to Spencer-Horn's mother, Alison Spencer, saying that her daughter was "alive and well".

Methven was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with her death. He will be sentenced on Monday, July 14, 2025.

Detective chief inspector Susie Cairns said: “My thoughts remain with Phoenix’s family and friends as they continue to try to come to terms with what happened.

"Methven now faces the consequences of his actions.

“Violence such as this is never acceptable in our communities, and we will work tirelessly to ensure those responsible are brought to justice."
