Man admits causing crash in Wishaw while over the drink-drive limit

A former Wishaw man has admitted causing a crash while over the drink-drive limit.

Jordan Thomas was ordered to do 240 hours of unpaid community work when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday.

The 20-year-old was also banned from driving for the next two years and must resit his test.

Thomas, formerly of Stanhope Place, Gowkthrapple, admitted driving dangerously while almost three times over the drink limit in Carfin Street, New Stevenston, on January 18.

The court heard he was going too fast and tried to overtake another vehicle but lost control.

Both cars were damaged extensively, but luckily no one was badly hurt.

Thomas, now of Keir Hardie Road, Larkhall, also admitted illegal possession of a knife in Glencairn Avenue, Craigneuk, on March 9 while on bail.
