Man admits bid to supply cocaine and heroin

A man admitted being involved in a conspiracy to push Class A drugs.

Jordan Gayle, 22, of no fixed abode, appeared at Bristol Crown Court via video link from HMP Elmley.

He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine and heroin between January 1 and July 29 last year.

The court heard the offending related to near to Bristol.

Others who have already pleaded guilty are yet to be sentenced, as well as another defendant who denies wrongdoing and is set to stand trial.

Francis McGrath, defending Gayle via video link, urged Judge Michael Longman to set a sentencing date for Gayle as soon as possible.

He told the court: "Mr Gayle is currently serving a significant sentence of imprisonment for an offence after he was released from his arrest in these proceedings."

Mr McGrath asked for consideration for his client to receive a concurrent sentence to the one he's serving, or a jail term which marginally increases it.

He told the court while Gayle is a remand prisoner he will not be in a position to make the meaningful progress he will be able to make in a Category C prison.

The judge pencilled in a sentencing date for Gayle and convicted co-defendants on March 8.

He remanded Gayle in custody.
