Inspector David Morgan said: "Thanks to the vigilance of our officers a dangerous weapon has now been removed from our streets and can no longer be used to cause fear and harm in our communities in Kirkby and across Merseyside. Those involved in the supply of drugs and use of weapons have no regard for the lives they affect and the harm they can cause.

"This is why we are committed to pursuing those involved in serious and organised crime and bringing them to justice. Information from our communities plays a vital part in removing weapons and I would like to urge anyone with information on criminality in your area to please come forward so we can act upon it.

"If you have any information on the possession of, storage or use of drugs and weapons in your community, please contact our social media desk on Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’. You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111. Always call 999 if a crime is in progress."
