A 44-year-old man was on bail at the time he allegedly murdered a woman in her regional Victorian home.

James William Pualic, from Junortoun in Bendigo, faced Bendigo Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with murdering Analyn "Logee" Osias.

The 46-year-old mother of four was found unresponsive in a Kangaroo Flat property, south of Bendigo, just before midnight on Sunday.

She was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

Pualic, who appeared via video link from jail and looked down through most of Thursday's filing hearing, was arrested at a reservoir in Harcourt North about 5am on Monday, with police air-wing assisting officers on the ground.

He was charged with Ms Osias's murder, as well as trespassing with intent to assault a person and contravening an order.

Pualic had another separate matter before the court, which would be heard alongside the murder case, the court was told on Thursday.

He did not comment when police tried to interview him at Bendigo Police Station on Tuesday.

Prosecutors requested a longer than usual timeframe to pull their case together ahead of a committal mention, noting there was extensive forensic material that required testing, including DNA evidence.

Pualic was remanded in custody to next appear in court on March 6.

His bail for his other matter before the court was formally revoked.
