Man accused of raping woman he met on a dating app

A 31-year-old man allegedly raped a woman at his home after meeting her on a dating app.

Aitamoit Mon faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday, July 31, where bail was not applied for and it was formally refused.

He is yet to enter pleas to two counts of sexual intercourse without consent, sexual assault in the third degree and two counts of common assault.

Police said the pair had been communicating for several weeks before arranging to meet in person at the man's Taylor home on Saturday evening, July 25.

During the evening, police allege Mon sexually assaulted the woman multiple times despite her making it clear she did not consent.

The woman reported the alleged assault to ACT Policing on Monday, prompting an investigation.

On Thursday, detectives searched the Taylor home and arrested the man.

Mon's court case will return to the ACT Magistrates Court in late August.
