Man accused of putting baby in tumble drier then turning it on

Dundee Sheriff Court ( Google )

A man accused of placing a 13-month-old baby in a tumble dryer and turning the machine on is set to stand trial.

Thomas Dunn is accused of causing the little girl severe injuries and endangering her life.

The 25-year-old, from Hamilton, is also said to have repeatedly assaulted another child over a course of almost three years by putting his hand over his mouth and pressing his nose, preventing him from breathing.

Prosecutors allege Mr Dunn placed the girl in a tumble dryer and closed the door, activating the machine's inner drum, on December 28 last year.

Shortly after on 8 January, he is accused of hitting her head and body against an unknown object, and biting her arm during the same attack.

His attacks on the other child ran from April 2015 to January 2018.

The offences are alleged to have been committed at an address in Arbroath.

He denies the charges and will stand trial at Dundee Sheriff Court on 4 June.
