
A MAN who allegedly pulled a woman's hair until she fell to the ground at Charlestown Square on Thursday is expected to face court.
Police will allege the man was at the shopping complex about 8.40am when he approached a woman and grabbed her by the hair, dragging her to the ground.
It is alleged he yelled and the woman before running away.
The pair did not know each other, police indicated.
Lake Macquarie police were called in and began conducting an investigation.
Their inquiries led them to a Pacific Highway motel about 10am.
They arrested a 39-year-old man.
He was taken to Belmont police station, where he was charged with common assault and affray.
The 39-year-old was refused bail to face Belmont Local Court on Friday.
