Man accused of murdering sugar baby, 23, 'wanted secret soundproof room in home'

A man accused of killing a missing sugar baby asked to have a secret soundproof bunker built in his home, it has been claimed.

Ayoola Ajayi, 31, was arrested in connection with the death of student Mackenzie Lueck, 23, following a raid at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Friday.

Brian Wolf, a local contractor, claims he was approached by the suspect and asked to build a soundproof room under his home's front porch, which would be only accessible using a thumb scanner.

Wolf, 43, also alleges that he was given a "weird" request to install hooks at head hight for reasons that "didn't make sense".

"As soon as he said he wanted the hooks above head height, I was like, 'Why do you need big hooks up there?'," Wolf told Desert News

"I was like, 'why do you need big hooks up there? And he said it was to hang a wine rack."

"It just got weirder and weirder, the more he was talking to me."

Wolf came forward when he recognised Ajayi's home on TV as police excavated the suspect's front yard in connection with the disappearance.

"We don't have any reason to discount his story. We actually really appreciate it," a spokeswoman for the Salt Lake City Police said.

On Friday, detectives found charred remains which matched the DNA profile of the missing University of Utah nursing student.

Police Chief Mike Brown said his neighbours smelled gasoline and saw him burning something on June 18 and 19.

He said: “The search warrant resulted in the findings of a fresh dig area on his property which is the same area that the arrested individual was reported burning something.”

“A forensic excavation of the burn area was conducted, which resulted in the finding of several charred items that were consistent with personal items of Mackenzie Lueck.

“That DNA profile was compared and is consistent with the DNA profile obtained through further forensic testing of personal items of Mackenzie Lueck.

Ajayi - an IT specialist who was briefly in the Army National Guard - is now facing charges of aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping, desecration of a body.

Lueck first went missing on June 17 and is believed to have sent her last text messages to Ajayi.
