A man was accused in court of the murder of a 87-year-old pensioner and seven other charges.
Gavin Collins, 38, was brought to a Bank Holiday sitting of Nottingham magistrates and was remanded in custody.
He is due to be brought to Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday.
No details were given during the seven-minute appearance where he was represented by Chris Lacey.
The dead man was named in the charge as 'He was the hub of our family' - tributes to granddad killed in Mansfield Woodhouse and the murder was dated as April 19 at Worcester Avenue, Tibshelf.

Collins, who wore a pale green t-shirt in court, is accused of the kidnap of a woman on the same date; two counts of taking cars and driving them dangerously; robbing a woman in Skegby; attempting to rob a man in Skegby; entering a house in Addison Street, Tibshelf as a trespasser and stealing car keys; entering a house in Worcester Avenue as a trespasser and stealing the keys of a Seat Leon car.
Presiding magistrate Jill Oakham, who sat with two other JPs, told Collins: "You will be sent to Nottingham Crown Court for trial."

Sarah Sanderson, prosecuting, told the court that the offences were linked and suggested they should all be handled by a crown court judge.
This was accepted by Mr Lacey. Currently, the law bans bail applications when people appear on murder charges for the first time.
Collins gave his address to the JPs as Addison Street, Tibshelf.
